Developmental Domains

Developmental Domains are the 5 areas of development that are assessed through the Early Intervention Program (EIP). These 5 areas include:

  • Cognitive
  • Communication
  • Physical / Motor
  • Social / Emotional
  • Adaptive


Early Intervention

Services that are provided by qualified personnel and meet the needs of the child and family as described in the Individualized Family Service Plan (I.F.S.P.). These services are provided with parent consent and to the maximum extent possible in the Natural Environment.


EIP

Early Intervention Program


IEP

An Individualized Education Plan (IEP): A plan for a child’s special educational services that the parent and the committee on special education (for children 3-5) or that the parent and a committee on special education (for children 5-21) will develop if their child qualifies for these services.


IFSP

A written plan for the child's and family's services in the Early Intervention Program that the family develops with a team of qualified personnel and the Early Intervention Official


Individualized Family Service Plan

A written plan for the child's and family's services in the Early Intervention Program that the family develops with a team of qualified personnel and the Early Intervention Official

Natural Environment Teaching

Expanding language through teaching in all settings throughout the day across persons and situations


Occupational Therapy

Services associated with self-help skills, adaptive behavior and play and sensory, motor and postural development

Service Coordinator

A person who works in partnership with the family to provide support and services that help the family to coordinate and obtain their rights under the Early Intervention Program and services agreed upon on in the Individualized Family Service Plan
