Speech Therapy focuses on developing a person’s communicative abilities, as well as treating speech and language disorders, feeding problems, swallowing and voice disorders.
Speech Therapy services include prevention, identification, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Speech Therapy treatment approaches may include physical strengthening exercises, instructive or repetitive practice, sign language, the use of picture symbols or augmentative communication devices (ACD's), and the use of audio-visual aids.
Speech Therapy services through Building Blocks are designed to facilitate functional communication in an individualized manner.
We use a transdisciplinary program to assess and treat feeding difficulties and weight/growth problems in children of all ages. Therapy integrates posture, sensory, motor, behavioral/learning, medical and nutritional factors to comprehensively evaluate and manage children with feeding/growth problems. Therapy can be done individually or in a group setting.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Any method of communicating without speech, such as by signs, gestures, picture boards, or electronic or non-electronic devices. These methods can help individuals who are unable to use speech or who need to supplement their speech to communicate effectively.
